This dungeon dwelling beast from the AD&D universe was modeled in LightWave 3D. Then I brought the low polygon mesh into ZBrush to sculpt all the finer details as well as painting the textures, and then back to LightWave again for rigging and rendering.

The Pod Bay

This image was my contribution for the Vue Environment Competition 2007 and took around one day to complete from start to finish. It ended up as finalist and then second runner up as one of the three winning images.

The biggest challenge for me was that the rules in the competition stated that no post work was allowed, which ordinary is a natural part of my pipeline. So this image is straight out of Vue's renderer.

I didn't want to make just a plain landscape render, so I came up with this idea of some Alien Pods populating my environment to bring some interest and excitement into the image.

The Pods are modeled in LightWave and then textured and lit in Vue together with all the other Vue assets. This was actually my first image I made with Vue. Pretty amazing software.
